Canadian Tire Jumpstart Program - Highland Chapter
Physical activity gives a lot more to kids than just rosy cheeks and a healthy weight. It helps kids build self-esteem, social skills, concentration and character. And it helps them learn how to work together, how to share, and how to lead.
There is a growing need in our communities to make physical activity a priority in the lives of Canadian children and Canadian Tire believes that all kids should have the chance to play. They are committed to providing Canadian children with the opportunity to participate in organized sports and recreation so they can develop essential life skills, self-esteem and confidence.
According to the Canadian Tire Company, "The way we see it, the answer to "Can I Play? Should always be "Yes."
To help make this happen the Canadian Tire Foundation for Families created a community based charitable program to get children active called Canadian Tire JumpStartTM, which will deliver assistance to financially disadvantaged children so they can participate in recreational activities and organized sport.
All program administrative costs are funded by the Canadian Tire Corporation so that every dollar raised for the program will go directly to helping kids who otherwise would not have the opportunity to participate in such activities.
The Highland Chapter consists of community leaders from organizations working together with Canadian Tire Associate Dealers, the Chapter identifies children who would benefit from Canadian Tire JumpStartTM and ensures the effective delivery of the program. Funding preference is to pay for registration fees.
