Notice to Antigonish County Water Utility Customers

On November 25, 2020, the Municipality of the County of Antigonish received a decision from the Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board (NSUARB) to amalgamate the two existing water utilities (Fringe and Lower South River & Area) into one utility named the Antigonish County Water Utility.  The decision also approved a new Schedule of Rates and Charges for Water and Water Services and a Schedule of Rules and Regulations.

The NEW rates apply to water supplied on and after DECEMBER 1st, 2020.

For Residential Customers ONLY:
Antigonish County Water Utility billings are bi-monthly.  The next water utility billing is in February 2021 for the water supplied in December 2020 and January 2021.

This first billing with the new rates will be different from a typical bi-monthly billing going forward.  The billing cycle periods has changed in addition to new rates.  There will be an adjustment on your bill to reflect the transition of one month’s billing (for the month of December 2020 at the old rate structure).

For Residential and Commercial Customers:
Previously, the Antigonish County Water Utility was reading the metered consumption in gallons.  The approved rate structure is based on cubic meters so the Water Utility felt it was better suited for the customer to be able to read the meter’s consumption in cubic meters.

For further details on the Antigonish County Water Utility’s rates, rules and regulations please see the Municipality of the County of Antigonish website www.antigonishcounty.ns.ca/water-and-sewer/

Thank you for your patience as we adjust our processes to reflect these recent changes.  If you have any inquires please contact water@antigonishcounty.ns.ca.

Sincerely,

Glenn Horne
